A society is a kind of game theory, such as prisoners' dilemma, hawk-dove game, chicken game and so on. We will have reached Nash equilibrium, but it is not always Pareto optimum. So, too much freedom robs you of your happiness and even freedom itself. For example, neo liberalists say that even if temporary work is permitted, you don't lose your happiness, because in case you don't want to do temporary work, you should get a permanent job. In reality, to increase the number of job choices will make it difficult to get a permanent job and we will not be happier than ever. You should not abuse freedom. It is easy to understand this statement if you think about economic themes. Unfortunately, however, many of you cannot apply this logic to the more private topics, such as family. It is true that sometimes minority rights restrict majority rights, but the most people don't understand it.
Let's talk about marriage. Many of you may think that there are people who donʼt want to get married, so it is good to abolish the social pressure forcing people to marry. Although this apparently makes sense, we mustn't forget that there are many people who are not attractive. Such people won't marry without the social pressure even if they strongly want to marry because nobody would want to get married with them. The social pressure increases incentive for marriage and it'll make more and more people can marry easily and live happily. For those who are honest with the intention of marriage, and yet superficially unattractive, the social pressure is good. Do you still think the social pressure is bad? Should majority be sacrificed for minority? Does a person who cannot get married have to take full responsibility for not being married? Are we free from taking responsibility for the fact that there are some people who keep failing to marry? If so, why do you think that we should help poor people by social systems like welfare? Why can't we say that they should be responsible for themselves being poor? What difference is there between to earn money and to marry? You can't explain it! So this is one of the inconsistencies of liberalism. Liberalists help only people who are morally right or politically correct from the viewpoint of liberalism. Liberalists don't help people who are in majority or old fashion. Liberalism is only anti-conservative.
I think it doesn't make people happier to diversify their lifestyles because there are hidden potential risks as shown in the former paragraph.
