What's Marginalia?

新論説集Marginalia 年間スケジュール*

　　　　The Project Marginalia originally started at Kaisei High school, Tokyo, in 2009 when some of the interested students published the magazine Shoku-Ronsetsu-shu, a collection of several essays. Gaining more members, and expecting more productive activity, the project made a new start as Shin-Ronsetsu-shu (later called Marginalia). The first issue was published in August 2013, followed by the second in May 2014 and the third in October 2014.
　　　　Not only the magazines published twice a year but the meetings held every two months consist an essential part of our activity. Besides, we share ideas with some groups such as the A-Team based in Amsterdam, so that we can expand the possibilities of this project.
　　　　To have a sincere dialogue with readers and also writers in this project, Marginalia has no restrictions on genre, topic, and discipline; it is the place, where we can express our own thoughts and communicate with each other. As a place itself, in general, has no temporary target, neither does Marginalia.
　　　　Marginalia is, therefore, where we are in need of open-minded conversations, without settling ourselves within a given, imaginary target, which might be often set by a definite discipline. And this is the way the project Marginalia goes.

　新論説集「マージナリア」運営委員会 (Project Marginalia Committee) の主な活動は年2度の冊子刊行、および2ヶ月に1度の集会開催です。事の起こりは2009年、開成高校の有志による『続論説集』刊行ですが、参加者の幅を広げて2013年8月に『新論説集』が発行され、2014年5月にはさらなる視野の拡大、継続的な活動の充実を期して『新論説集/Marginalia 第2号』が発行されました。同年10月の『新論説集「マージナリア」第3号』（Marginalia No.3）を経て、この活動はいよいよ軌道に乗りつつあります。
　web上でも発信を展開しています。ホームページには既刊号からの記事の紹介や参加者による随筆、様々なご案内を掲載しています。またアムステルダムを拠点とする "A-Team" をはじめとして様々なグループと交流し、国境に縛られない対話の可能性を開こうとしています。
　この冊子は、話題・分野・視角に縛られない文字通りの「論説」集です。とはいえ、旧（ふる）い規準の代わりに新しい方法論を定めよう、というのでもありません。ここで目指されるのはあくまで、個々人のあいだの真摯な対話です。冊子発行後には「合評会」が開かれますが、これもまさに、そうした対話の場を用意するものです。また、次号に向けての意見交換を「出発会」で行い、私たちの向かう先を再び検討します。「交流会」では単に集まって話すというのではない、話すということへの意識を新たにするような集まりが実現できればと考えています。
　ひょっとすると、真摯な対話が「目指される」という言い方は大仰に過ぎるかもしれません。「論説」を書き、読むということは、必ず誠実な行為になるはずです。しかし私たちは、単なる寄せ集めと真摯な対話とを見分ける鋭さを、身につけねばなりません。この活動が、そうした対話の場を開くものになれば、と思っています。
